Federica graduated with honors from the University of Pisa in 2009, with a thesis on the treatment of canine epilepsy. She worked in general practice at Valdinievole Veterinary Clinic since 2010, with a main interest in clinical neurology and neuroimaging. In 2015 she started an ECVN Residency under the supervision of Massimo Baroni, and she is currently ECVN Board eligible. Federica is member of the Italian Society of Veterinary Neurology since 2011 and member of the European Society of Veterinary Neurology since 2012.

Dr Els Raes received her degree in Veterinary Medicine in 2004 from the University of Ghent. Between 2004 and 2007 she worked in private practice and as an assistant in the Anatomy department of the same university. In 2007 she started a PhD in Equine diagnostic imaging. The thesis titled “Ultrasonography and Computed Tomography of the Equine Tarsus” was defended in 2012. In 2017 she completed a residency program at the department of Medical Imaging, obtaining the diploma of the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic imaging in large animals. Currently she is working parttime as a senior radiologist at the equine clinic of the University of Ghent. She joined VetCT as a member of the equine team in 2018 where she reads teleradiology images and takes part in online teaching of diagnostic imaging in large animals of veterinary students. She has authored several peer reviewed papers and abstracts in the field of equine diagnostic imaging.

Emmelie graduated in 2012 as a as Master in Veterinary Medicine at Ghent University (Belgium), with great distinction. After graduation, she started a medical imaging internship at the same university. This was immediately followed by a residency in medical imaging (small animal track), combined with a PhD project, still at Ghent University. The PhD, on contrast-enhanced ultrasound of feline kidneys, was successfully defended in May 2017. She became EBVS® European Specialist in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging® (Dip ECVDI) in February 2019. She stayed at the Medical imaging department of Ghent University where she combines clinical work with research.

Katrien Vanderperren obtained her veterinary degree at the University of Ghent in 2005. She immediately started a PhD at the Department of Veterinary Imaging in Ghent and obtained her PhD degree on equine fetlock imaging. During her post-doctoral training, she combined her research on contrast ultrasound examination in companion animals with her clinical work in the large animal imaging clinic, primarily horses. Since 2014, she has been a professor in medical imaging at the University of Ghent, and in 2020, she became a diplomate at the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging. Her research interests are clinical research with a focus on magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography in horses.

Louis Vandekerckhove obtained the degree of Master of Veterinary Medicine (equine) from Ghent University in June 2017. After graduating, he continued his education by completing a one-year equine rotating internship at the faculty of veterinary medicine of the Ghent University, with emphasis on Medical Imaging, Orthopedics and Surgery.
In October 2018, he joined the large animal medical imaging team (DI11) of the same university. He divided his time between clinical work, teaching and both large animal and small animal research. From 2020 until 2024 he was enrolled in the large animal orientated ECVDI residency program at the same department. In 2024 he passed the ECVDI board exam and became a European Specialist in Veterinary Radiology®. His main clinical and research interests include orthopaedics, neuroimaging, image quality and Dual Energy Computed Tomography.
Louis is author and co-author of several scientific publications in national and international peer-reviewed journals and has actively contributed to national and international congresses.
